Privacy Policy

3.1 Data You Share Directly

• Registration data (Mandatory): First name (public), age (public), gender, at least one Profile Photo (public), and your phone number or email address depending on your chosen login method.
• AI-Interview Data (Optional): If you choose to engage with our AI-Interview, we collect your conversational responses regarding your lifestyle, relationship views, and personal values, which we use, together with your other profile information, to calculate your compatibility with other Members (see Section 4.3). aKind does not ask you to disclose special categories of personal data (such as racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious beliefs, or health data). However, your answers may incidentally reveal information of this kind, for example your beliefs or who you are attracted to, even where you do not name it directly. Because of this, before you begin the AI-Interview we ask for your separate, explicit consent to this specific use of your answers. You can withdraw this consent at any time in Settings → Privacy, which deletes your AI-Interview data and resets your compatibility profile.
• Optional Profile Data (Public): Interest tags, short bio, and lifestyle preferences.
• Promotional Content (Optional): If you separately consent, you may allow aKind to feature your public Profile Photos or videos in our own marketing and promotional materials, including on our social media channels (for example, Instagram Stories). This is never required to use the Services. You can grant or withdraw this consent at any time in Settings → Privacy (see Section 4.6).
• Customer Support Data (Private): Information sent when reporting issues, blocked users, or contacting support.

3.2 Data We Collect Automatically

• Geographical Position and Zone Data (Mandatory for core features): aKind's core value is connecting people in the "here and now." With your explicit consent, we collect your location data to place you within our Hexagonal Zones (~340m) on the Activity Map. Your exact GPS location is never visible to other Members. Members only see your profile card if you are both currently situated in the same Hexagonal Zone.
• Activity and Location History: We analyze the zones you frequent and the events you attend to power our Recommendations algorithm, suggesting Members who share similar offline habits and hangouts (see Section 7 for how long this is kept).
• Messages and AI-Autopilot Logs: Messages sent between Members, including those generated by the AI-Autopilot feature on your behalf, are processed securely to facilitate your conversations and improve the feature's contextual awareness.
• Technical Data: Device ID, IP address, operating system version, and Application crash logs necessary for technical functioning.

3.3 Event Information from Public Sources

The Activity Map and event listings in the Application include information about public events (such as concerts, talks, workshops, and meetups) organized by third parties. We collect this information from publicly available sources: the websites of organizers, venues, and cities, public event listings and ticketing platforms, and public pages on social media. This information may include personal data of people named in a public event announcement, such as the names of speakers, performers, hosts, or organizers.

What we use: Only what is needed to describe the event: its title, date and time, venue, price, a short description written by aKind, a link to the organizer's or source page, and the names of people as they appear in the public announcement. We do not copy photos from event sources, and we do not use this information to build profiles of the people named in it.

Legal basis: Legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) in informing Members about public events in their city. Each listing links back to its public source.

If you are named in an event listing: This section provides the information required by Article 14 GDPR. Because we usually have no contact details for the people named in public event announcements, notifying each of them individually would involve disproportionate effort (Article 14(5)(b) GDPR). You can ask us to correct or remove information about you, or object to its use, at any time by writing to info@akind.app. You also have the other rights described in Section 9. See Section 7 for how long this information is kept.

4.1 Supplying Core Services

We use your data to create and manage your Account, display your profile to compatible Members in the same Hexagonal Zone, manage mutual likes, and store messages exchanged between Members.

Legal basis: Performance of our contract with you (our Terms of Use).

4.2 Powering the Activity Map & Recommendations

We use your location data to update the Activity Map, which shows Hexagonal Zones with a higher density of people compatible with you. We also use your historical zone data to recommend Members who visit similar places or attend similar events, even if you did not cross paths at the exact same time.

Legal basis: Consent. You give this consent when you enable geolocation. You can withdraw it at any time by turning location off in the Application or your device settings; this will not affect processing carried out before withdrawal, but will limit your ability to use location-based features.

4.3 Calculating Compatibility (AI-Interview)

Data gathered via the AI-Interview is processed by our compatibility scoring system, a rules-based algorithm that weighs your answers against those of other Members to calculate a compatibility percentage shown on your profile card. This scoring is a decision-support feature only: it ranks and suggests profiles, and does not by itself make any decision producing legal or similarly significant effects on you (for example, it cannot reject, ban, or restrict your Account). You always decide whether to act on the profiles it suggests.

Legal basis: Explicit consent (Article 9(2)(a) GDPR), because your answers may reveal sensitive information about you. We request this consent separately, before you begin the AI-Interview. You can withdraw it at any time in Settings → Privacy, which deletes your AI-Interview data and resets your compatibility profile; withdrawal does not affect matches already calculated.

4.4 Operating AI-Autopilot

Data processed via AI-Autopilot is used strictly to help start and maintain conversations on your behalf until you are ready to take over personally. Messages sent by AI-Autopilot are always labeled to the recipient as sent by an AI, so other Members always know when they are talking with AI-Autopilot rather than with you directly.

Legal basis: Performance of our contract with you (facilitating your conversations is part of the Services).

4.5 Security and Trust

We analyze platform activity and Profile Photos to detect fraudulent behavior, prevent fake profiles, manage user reports, and protect the safety of the aKind community.

Legal basis: Legitimate interest in keeping the aKind community safe from fraud and fake profiles. You can object to this processing at any time by contacting us (Section 12); we will consider your objection unless we have compelling legitimate grounds to continue.

4.6 Marketing Use of Your Content

Where you have given the separate consent described in Section 3.1, we may feature your public Profile Photos or videos in aKind's own marketing and promotional materials, including on our social media channels.

Legal basis: Consent. This is entirely separate from, and never required for, your use of the core Services. You can withdraw this consent at any time in Settings → Privacy; this stops future use of your content but does not retroactively remove content already published. For example, an Instagram Story you consented to appear in will in any event expire from Instagram's platform within 24 hours under Instagram's own format.

4.7 Automated Decision-Making and Profiling

Your compatibility score (Section 4.3) is generated by an automated, rules-based scoring system that compares your AI-Interview answers, profile information, and in-app activity against those of other Members. No decision producing legal or similarly significant effects on you is made solely by automated means: the score only influences the order in which profiles are suggested, and you decide who to like, message, or meet.
